Design

You may already have your own furniture design, or a photograph or magazine article of the piece you have in mind. Alternatively you may wish to select an item from one of the many books we have showing pictures of fine furniture.

Given an image of your design we will transfer that image to a detailed measured drawing which you may then approve or alter to meet your specific needs. Once we've completed this process we would move on the next step which is the price quote.

Price Quote

In the price quote process we will explicitly spell out the cost of the materials and labor involved in creating the piece for you.

Our business plan calls for building two or more copies of any project we accept (assuming the piece is not too customized). A large part of the cost of building a piece of furniture is the machine setup which, if we build more than one piece, would correspondingly lessen the cost.

In the case where we do build more than one copy of the piece we would only charge a correspondingly lower price for the labor of the piece (for example one half for the labor if we build two, one third if we build three, and so on). Of course, we would charge the full price for any materials used on your piece.

The entire design of the piece, including a discussion of the lumber selections, detailed drawings of the piece and a full specification of the finish will be completed before proceeding to the next step.

Go Ahead

If the design is acceptable to you, and the price is acceptable we will proceed with the project. This will require a non-refundable (see below) payment of one third of the cost of the project in order to cover the price of the materials.

Your project will start as soon as is practical based on our current project list. We will try in any case to complete your project within three months depending on the complexity of the project. We will keep you informed of the progress of your project via our website.

Delivery

When the project is complete you will have to option to accept it (in which case the remaining two thirds payment will be due prior to final delivery) or the reject the project. You may reject the project for any reason. If your rejection is based on dissatisfaction with our work (it won't be don't worry!) we will refund the initial one third payment. If the rejection is simply because you've changed you mind or you do not like the design the one third payment is non-refundable.

We will deliver the piece at a previously agreed upon price based on the size of the project. Additionally, if there is any installation involved in the project this will have already been built into the price.
